Are you up for a little mindless zombie fun on your iPhone? Although the zombie genre, both in movies and in video games, has become a bit redundant (but then again, aren’t zombies redundant?), Zombie Highway for the iPhone and iPod touch is a lot of fun and is a no-brainer (pun intended) for only $ .99 cents.
Zombie Highway is simple, fun and addicting. The goal is to see how far you can travel down the road before the zombies either flip your car over or you drive smack dab into one of the wrecked vehicles on the post-apocalyptic highway. Several different types of zombies will jump onto the side of your car and you can either shoot them off using one of many assorted weapons you acquire along the way *or* you can scrape them off with the assistance of the wreckage along the road. Either way, be prepared for a little carnage (NOT entirely kid-friendly).
You don’t have to worry about controlling the speed of your vehicle because you are kept at a constant speed during the game. Just tilt your device left or right to steer your car and tap the sides of the screen where the corresponding red triangles are to indicate where you need to aim to blast the zombies off of your car. The game even lets you log in to Facebook so you can share your best score — in this case, your distance — and your rank among other Zombie Highway players.
Try Zombie Highway today — it’s only a buck — and see how long you survive!
It looks like the prospect of the iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak being released during the Hack In The Box security conference is becoming more likely, as pod2g announces on twitter that the jailbreak release is mere days away.
A few days ago, pod2g said that “something big” will happen during the event regarding jailbreaking. Honestly, what can be bigger than the 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak?

Apple is holding an event today where they are expected to announce a new higher-resolution iPod touch, possibly a new Apple TV (rumors have circulated that an iOS-based Apple TV was in the works), and new 99-cent TV show rentals in iTunes for Fox and ABC. It’s likely that those of us who have been waiting for iOS 4 to come to the iPad will have to wait a while longer.
Could there also be some news of a 7-inch iPad or is the smaller iPad just speculation? We will all know soon enough – today, actually.
iOS 5′s upgraded notification system was a welcomed addition to iOS’ repertoire, but as time goes on it’s evident that it can be improved even more so.
Developers Joshua Tucker and Conrad Kramer have taken matters into their own hands to improve iOS notifications. The result is a tweak that allows you to view the full body of your notifications from the Lock screen or via banner notifications.
Take a look at the preview video for Reveal inside…(…)

Some compelling reasons for owning an iPad is speed and convenience: instant-on and the ease-of-use and snappiness of Apple’s iOS creating a very positive user experience when accessing email and surfing the net. My experience owning an iPad is actually quite what I would expect it to be – I grab my iPad when I need information quickly or want to check email or compose a quick message, and if I have heavier lifting, I crack open the laptop and wait for 20-30 seconds for my Mac to boot up.
The obligatory wait time while our traditional computers boot up may change soon, and by “soon” I mean as early as beginning next year. BIOS technology has been in use since 1979 to boot up our personal computers, but BIOS is antiquated and does not meet the demands of today’s faster, more powerful computers and demanding operating systems. Instead, UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) is about to hit the scene, and when it does, your personal computer will boot up in a matter of just a few seconds. It won’t be instant-on like the iPad, but it will be very close.
When UEFI goes mainstream and boot-up times for computers takes just a few seconds — let’s speculate that your Mac or PC will boot up and be ready to go in 3 to 5 seconds — how might this impact your iPad use, if at all?
Confirming its recent status of both the world’s #1 smartphone and cell phone vendor, Samsung reportedly racked up over nine million pre-orders for its Galaxy S III smartphone worldwide. The figure excludes the United States, where an LTE version of the phone is slated to arrive in June.
This compares to first-weekend sales of the iPhone 4S exceeding four million units, twice as many units as the iPhone 4 which sold 1.7 million units during launch weekend.
Samsung’s flagship handset got introduced on May 3, accompanied by a strong marketing push. It will first go on sale on May 29 in Germany with the 32GB model as a Vodafone exclusive for the first month. The device is already available on Amazon contract-free for $ 799…(…)

Apple’s ring-shaped, spaceship-like campus wont replace the company’s corporate headquarters at 1 Infinite Loop in Cupertino, California, where approximately 10,000 employees come to work, 9to5Mac has learned.
Instead, the spectacular all-glass structure will serve as research facility office space for an additional 13,000 employees and will provide an additional 300,000 feet of expansion space for future growth.
The publication was able to glean this information from a brochure Apple sent to Cupertino residents as it sought feedback amid concerns that the facility will add to the traffic and change the surrounding area…(…)

While folks in the jailbreak community have been able to make FaceTime calls on cellular networks for quite some time now, others haven’t been so lucky. Since it debuted in 2010, the video calling feature has remained Wi-Fi-only.
Today, however, evidence has surfaced that suggests Apple is testing a FaceTime over 3G option. The folks over at iDevice posted the above screenshot, which was taken from an error message pulled out of iOS 5.1.1…(…)
